Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts we switched for Vocabulary Vine, listened to a short chapter of our read aloud, reviewed our story vocabulary and grammar skill of the week, and worked on a sheet that practiced finding the topic sentence in a paragraph and locating sentences that do not belong.
During Computer Lab we worked the entire time on completing our typing of our published books. Most of us are finished and the illustrations will start on Friday. Those students who do not finish will need to finish up on Monday night as part of their homework.

***Weekly Homework Packet is due on Friday-Please remember the parent signatures at the top and on each night with the reading minutes.
***The students should wear red to school on Friday as well as their reading medals. We will parade into the gym representing our country in the Olympic ceremony. (We presented China!)

Another beautiful day!
Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts we switched for Vocabulary Vine, reviewed our story vocabulary, reviewed multiple meaning words, worked on our grammar skill of the week which is possessive pronouns, and started our new read aloud. We also took about 10 minutes to work on a sketch which will accompany our writing that we will display for Galaxy Gallery next week.(Double specials)
Important:
***Because of the Discovery Principals visiting Northpoint next Monday, I have changed our Book Fair date to Thursday, March 18. Please make sure that students have their money to spend on that day if they are planning on buying books. We will not be visiting the library at our usual time on Friday.
Homework:
***Book projects are due on Friday.
***The end of the grading period is next Wednesday. Did you read your 3 AR books and pass the tests?
***Study for the spelling test.
***Weekly homework packet is due on Friday-Don't wait until the last minute! Remember to get a parent signature. Record your reading minutes too!

I am glad to be back in school today after being gone all day on Friday at a math meeting.
Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts we took our spelling pre-test, listened to our new story, reviewed the new vocabulary, worked on our grammar skill which is plural possessive pronouns, and completed a writing prompt which we will hang in the halls during Gallery Galaxy next week.

Math:
Today in math we completed a minute which dealt with dividing fractions, completed computation on white boards and discussed the following vocabulary terms: perfect number, abundant number, deficient number, rational number and irrational number. We also worked on problem solving which stumped everyone except one student. We will work on a similar problem tomorrow.
We also graded pages that were completed on Friday and started our lesson of the day which deals with balancing a mobile and the vocabulary word fulcrum.

We will finish up the chapter tomorrow, play a review game on Monday, and our test will be on Tuesday of next week.
Before the end of this grading period, we will spend some time working on being able to identify the 50 states as well as discussing the Three Branches of Government.

After lunch we switched back to our Language Arts groups to complete our writing portion of the ISTEP+. Before we knew it, it was time to get ready for dismissal. The day flew by!

***We will continue on with the ISTEP the first thing in the morning tomorrow. Please remember to get a good nights sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, bring a snack and some gum to chew during the test.

Today was a normal day in Language Arts. We started our new story, practiced pronoun and verb agreement, and took our spelling pretest which deals with homographs and accented syllables.
We will not have our Weekly Homework Packet this week or any other homework due to ISTEP+. We will have all of our usual assessments on Friday, however.
Reminders:
***ISTEP+ starts tomorrow. Please remember to eat a healthy breakfast and bring a snack and gum to chew during the tests.
***Reading Projects are due on March 12.
