Another cloudy Monday...

Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts it was business as usual. Since the monthof February is over, we have jumped into our basal once again and the students will resume their weekly homework packet.

Today we took our spelling pretest, reviewed the new RIT and story vocabulary, listened to the story on tape, reviewed what it means to make judgments, and practice finding articles in sentences.

Homework:
***Weekly homework packet- due Friday. Please do not forget signatures daily for reading minutes and at the top of the sheet to verify that the story was read at home
***Camp under- Friday. Bring in $1.00 to support the One for Books program.
***RIT Review test-Thursday
***All normal assessments will be given on Friday.

Math:
Today in Math we completed our 100th minute for the year, worked on computation, and discussed the rectangle method to find the area of a triangle. We also worked on problem solving.

Social Studies:
Today we took a journey to the Monument Valley, Phoenix, and the Hoover Dam. What an exciting time we had on our big rig tour!

Reminders:

***ISTEP is winding down but we still have one more important test to finish tomorrow.I am very proud of how well the students are staying focused and doing their personal best.

Our first day of ISTEP is over!

Today went really well. The students seemed focused and we now have two tests completed. We will continue with the ISTEP tomorrow.

***Get a good nights sleep
***Eat a healthy breakfast full of protein
***Bring a healthy snack to school
***Remember your mint gum

Reminders:
We have a big week this week! The ISTEP will be given Tuesday-Thursday. Please make sure your child gets enough sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, brings a healthy snack to school, and brings in two pieces of gum(mint is best) each day.

Language Arts:
We will not have a story this week or a weekly homework packet. We will resume next week.

Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts we reread our story for the week , reviewed RIT vocabulary, switched for Vocabulary Vine, met with our reading buddies, and continued working with adjectives.

Homework:
***We will have our usual Friday assessments. Please make sure to practice your spelling words in cursive.
***Reading calendars are due tomorrow and on Tuesday. (Tuesday will be our final minute count. We need everyone to really step-it-up this weekend and read! We need to reach our school wide goal of 1,000,000 minutes!
***All instruments are due tomorrow- This was the family project that was assigned over a month ago.

Math:
Today in math we spent the majority of our time in the computer lab working on Odyssey. (I would like to remind parents that if at all possible, students should be working on this program at home. It is an excellent way to help practice both math and language arts skills.) We also reviewed computation, completed a minute, and worked on graphing the outline of the United states by using coordinates.

Homework:
***Journal p. 298
***Unit 8 tests are graded and will be passed back to the students tomorrow. Please be looking for them in their folders. They need to signed by a parent and returned to school on Monday.

Social Studies:(Doms)
Today our class took the chapter 9 test.

Reminders:
*** My homeroom has their test tomorrow over chapter 9. Please review the study guide.
***We will be ISTEP testing next Tuesday-Thursday. Please make sure that your child eats a healthy breakfast rich in protein and gets plenty of sleep. They are encouraged to bring "mint" gum to chew during the ISTEP.

It was nice to have a three day weekend!

Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts we took our spelling pretest, reviewed our new vocabulary, reviewed our RIT vocabulary, switched for Vocabulary Vine, and worked on identifying adjectives in sentences.

Homework:
***Reading calendars are due on Friday and then again on Tuesday, March 1 for the final minute count. I would love to see the students taking advantage of the no weekly homework from my language arts class and reading a lot!
***Family project(instruments) are due on 2/25
***Read the story for the week with a parent and discuss the vocabulary
***ISTEP starts next week!

Today we took our Unit 8 test over fractions and ratios. We will jump into Unit 9 tomorrow.

Social Studies:(Doms)
Today in class we completed discussing the agricultural changes in the Midwest from the 1800s - today. We read and discussed the chapter and completed pages in our Interactive Student Notebook. Study guides were passed out today. Our test will be this Thursday.

Homework:
***Look up the answers to the study guide and start studying.
