We are FINALLY finished!
I am happy to say that we are finally finished with all the ISTEP testing. The students were amazing! I heard very little complaints throughout the week. I think many students are even looking forward to getting back into our routine.
What's New?
***We will participating in a special event outside on October 3. More information will follow soon in a letter from Mrs. Stephan. We do need your help, though. If you are able to send in a brown paper bag for a project, that would really help us out.
***Thanks again to all the parents who sent in snacks for ISTEP week. The remaining snacks will be given out next week as a healthy treat.
***As far as I know, AR should be up and running next week. I look forward to seeing how many tests the students are ready to take.

Only one more day of ISTEP to go!
I am happy to say that we only have one more day of ISTEP testing. We will test first thing in the morning. We can do it!
We are having a camp under tomorrow as a way to end a "busy" week. Your child is allowed to bring a small stuffed animal, pillow, blanket, and a flashlight.
Reminders: Your child may bring ain a dollar tomorrow and a piece of gum that they will can chew to support the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome. It is a great cause!

Another day of ISTEP completed!
We had a busy morning! We played strategy games, listened to our read aloud, discussed and watched a short movie on the Constitution and a few students had a chance to talk about their "Think on your Feet" topics.
This afternoon was packed with testing! Tomorrow we start the Mathematics portion of the test. I know that many students are looking forward to showing what they know on this part of the test.
Thanks again to all those parents who sent in snacks for testing. Believe it or not, the students are excited to see what the snack is each day!

9/16/08
One day of ISTEP done!
Today we were in Language Arts groups all day. We completed Tests 1-3 of the ISTEP. Thank you to all the parents who sent in snacks. The students really appreciated it in between tests.
Please continue to send the students in with full bellies and fully rested. Istep continues throughout the week.
Book Orders are due on Friday, Sept.19.
Be looking for a rubric to come home next week for my Language Arts students. This rubric will be used to assess the cereal box reading project which is due on October 10.

Another Monday...
Today in Language Arts, we worked on a fun writing prompt about bubble gum, designed a self portrait that will be used to display our bubble gum writing, and listened to our read aloud. Mrs. Stephan also read to us an encouraging story about test taking. We are all ready and prepared to start taking the ISTEP tomorrow!
***Last weeks Student Evaluation Chart will be returned next Monday since we will not meet for a regular Language Arts class. This will need to be signed and returned. Please note: The Weekly Assessment will not be returned with the Student Evaluation Chart any longer. I will keep the tests here in a file. If you would like to see the test, please let me know and I can make it available to you in the office, or we can discuss them at conference time.
Homework: None for the week. Come to school well rested and with full tummies!
In Math today, we did some computation work and played a math game where the students had to match equivalent fractions to percents. I also showed the students their Unit 7 Math test from Friday. Please ask them to share the scores with you. Since I do not have the students again until next Monday, I will hang onto their tests and pass them back then to get a parent signature.
Homework: None
In Social Studies, I passed back their Chapter 1 tests. Please sign and return these tomorrrow. We started Chapter 2-Lesson 1.

Another week is just about over...
Reminders:*** Tomorrow is the last day to turn in your fundraiser packet.
*** WSTAR applications are due tomorrow.
***If you are in my Language Arts class, you should be starting your cereal box project very soon. All projects are due on October 10. Parents- A sample project is in our school office. If you would like to drop by to see a sample, Mrs. Stuckey will be happy to show it to you.
***Next week is ISTEP week. We are still in need of healthy snacks for our class. If you are able to bring in a snack for our class(24), please let me know.
Language Arts: Today in Language Arts, we did our read aloud, reviewed dictionary skills, homophones, and the vocabulary for the story of the week.
Homework: Our Spelling test is tomorrow and Fluency and Flow is due. Please make sure that a parent signature is in both places on the Fluency and Flow. If not, it will be an "oops". This is the only way that I know that the story was read with a parent and that the oral skills were completed with an adult.
Math: In Math today with worked on computation of all skills as well as probability of fractions and spinners. We did this as a whole class on the board so that I could be sure that all students understood the concept. We also worked on Study links as a review in class.
Homework: Tomorrow is our first Math test over Unit 7. I explained to the students exactly what they will be expected to know. In practicing for the test, the students should practice changing a fraction to a decimal, changing a decimal to a fraction, comparing fractions, finding equivalent fractions, and finding the fraction of a whole. There is no written assignment for the night.
Social Studies: ( I am working with Miss Grannan's class)- Today we reviewed for our Chapter 1 test which will over lessons 1 and 2.
