Language Arts:
This morning we continued working on antecedents and pronouns. The students are getting much better at this skill. We also spent some time working on drawing conclusions, reviewing our RIT vocabulary, and completing a cursive handwriting contest sheet. We also switched for Vocabulary Vine.

Today we completed our minute, graded our homework, worked on computation and then jumped into the lesson of the day which dealt with negative numbers. We also spent some time working on problem solving strategies. This was difficult at first, but I think the students soon realized that by drawing out what you know, the problems can become much easier to solve.

Here comes the snow!
Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts we were pretty busy! We completed our grammar minute, reviewed pronouns and their antecedents, discussed our new RIT words and reviewed our weekly story vocabulary. We ended the day with taking our overall Unit 3 test. This test is a bit longer than our usual weekly tests so a few students still need to finish it. (It is taking them a little longer since we have started to write in all cursive now.)

***Weekly homework packet is due on Friday- The students should be writing in all cursive.

Today in math we completed our minute, graded our homework, and worked on a variety on computation skills as a review. We also learned how to multiply and divide exponents with the same base. Our lesson for the day consisted of line graphs which everyone whizzed through.

Today was a busy morning. We completed a grammar minute which practiced comparative and superlative adjectives and worked on irregular verbs on the overhead. We also met with our reading buddies, practiced RIT vocabulary, and reviewed the questions at the end of our basal story. The last few minutes before Vocabulary Vine were spent working in our handwriting books.

We did not have our Odyssey time today in the lab due to MAP testing.

What a productive day!
Language Arts:
Right after specials this morning, the students scrambled around and prepared for our wax museum. Boy was it worth the wait! I was so impressed with them! I even had students asking me if we could do another biography project because they actually "want" to do it again. The effort that they put into their projects was definitely evident and I know that they learned a lot.
After the wax museum, we worked on spelling, reviewed our RIT vocabulary and switched for Vocabulary Vine.

We discussed how all of these things effect the way the people in that area live.

***Our Chapter 7 test will be next Wednesday, January 12 for my homeroom. A study guide will be passed out during our next class.

Welcome Back to school!
It was so great to hear about all the fun things that everyone did over the break! Now we are all ready to get back to business!
Language Arts:
Today we jumped back into our basal by reading our story Snowflake Bentley and discussed the vocabulary for the week. In grammar, we practiced irregular verbs. We spent some time talking about our biography file folder reports that are due tomorrow and the wax museum that will be held on Wednesday.(Please refer to the packets that were passed out and the rubrics that will be used in grading both the file folder project and the wax museum presentations.)We finished up by taking a spelling pretest.
