Welcome Back to school!
It was so great to hear about all the fun things that everyone did over the break! Now we are all ready to get back to business!
Language Arts:
Today we jumped back into our basal by reading our story Snowflake Bentley and discussed the vocabulary for the week. In grammar, we practiced irregular verbs. We spent some time talking about our biography file folder reports that are due tomorrow and the wax museum that will be held on Wednesday.(Please refer to the packets that were passed out and the rubrics that will be used in grading both the file folder project and the wax museum presentations.)We finished up by taking a spelling pretest.
Homework:
***Biography file folders reports are due tomorrow. The wax museum will be held on Wednesday. Please make sure that students bring in their costumes and props on Wednesday morning.
***We will be having a spelling test and story assessments on Friday. Please be sure to reread the story at home prior to Friday. We will not, however, have a weekly packet this week due to the biography projects being due this week.

Math:
We completed our minute today, reviewed different skills on white boards, and then 5th grade Journal 2 workbooks were passed out. YEA!!! The students were all very excited! Today we worked on our lesson 7.1which dealt with exponential notation.

Social Studies(Suddarth)
Today we started Chapter 7 which deals with the geography that effects the people living in the Southeast. We looked at several different maps and discussed the elevation of the area.
