11/17/10

Language Arts:
Today flew by! After specials this morning ,we started right into working on our grammar minute and then we used white boards to practice linking verbs.(This is the skill that will be tested on Friday.) We also took time to work on our final copy of our schoolwide writing prompt, switched for Vocabulary Vine, and worked together on the floor discussing the story of the week.

Homework:
***Writing prompt is due tomorrow on "special" paper
***Weekly homework packet is due on Friday
***Are you reading EVERY night?
***How often do you review the RIT vocabualry?

Math:
Today in math we completed our minute, graded our homework, and spent our computation time reviewing adding, subtracting, and multiplying, integers as well as dividing them. We also practiced finding the volume of various shapes. We ended the day with a short quiz covering volume. (They are graded and will be passed back tomorrow. I was thrilled with their grades!)

***Our test covering Unit 11 is tentatively scheduled for early next week. I am shooting for Tuesday or Wednesday. We will have a practice test prior to the actual test.

Social Studies:(Doms)
Today we spent some time discussing the population density of different parts of the Northeast and how that effects the way people live. The students were then spit up to work with a partner to read sections 5.4-5.8 and the summary. They were given time to complete the differences between a megalopolis and a small town. If they did not finish, it is homework due Friday.

Homework:
***Finish workbook pages 28-29
***Study for the Chapter 5 test which will be given next Tuesday.
