What a full day!
***Tomorrow is the big day! The students are very anxious to try out our new rock climbing wall at recess. I am certain that it will be the talk of the dinner table tomorrow night!
We had a full day in Language Arts today. We added 5 new roots during Vocabulary Vine. Please strike up a conversation with your child and ask what new word parts they learned in class today. We also had Mrs. Slater, our school counselor, come into our room to do the first part of a 5 week session on bullying. The students were very interested in the session. We will continue for the next 4 weeks.
In Writing, we worked on meaning with descriptive details. The students created a detailed paragraph about getting a new bike. Everyone was excited about the prompt and are ready to share their graded pieces .
Homework: Now that AR is up and running, I am encouraging everyone to read every night. Reading projects are due on Oct. 10. Fluency and Flow is due on Friday as well as our Spelling test.
Math- We worked on computation by reviewing many skills. The students are getting much more confident in their work. It is visible on white boards;o) Area was the main skill of the day. As this gets more difficult, we will be working on unique shapes.
Homework: Page 240, Math Boxes 8.3 and 8.4
Social Studies- We did not have class today. We had D.A.R.E. instead. Practice book page 24 is due tomorrow and our test over Chapter 2 is on Friday.
Until tomorrow...
