9/30/08

What a dreary day!

In Language Arts, we took our Unit 1 test. This test covered all the skills from the first five stories. I am anxious to see how the students perform on this test. These results will drive our instruction for Unit 2!(It was a double special day!)

Homework: Our Spelling test will be on Friday afternoon. Fluency and Flow is also due that day. Please remember to get a parent signature on both places on the Fluency and Flow sheet. This lets me know that the story was read aloud to a parent and that the Word Workout was done orally. Reading projects are due on October 10. Also, remember to record your childs' reading minutes each night in their planner. Their goal is to read every night for 20-30 minutes.

In Math, we continued with our study of area and perimeter. Our test is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 6. (We will not have Math instruction on Friday due to our No Child Left Inside activities.)

Homework:Math Boxes 8.8 and 8.9

In Social Studies, we reviewed our handout from yesterday and basic facts about Indiana. We also discussed the globe, continents, directions, and different kinds of maps.

Homework: We will have a quiz tomorrow over the handout. Practice book pages 2 and 3 are also due. Many students completed these pages in class. (They may and should use their books to help them complete their pages.)They should review for the quiz tomorrow.)

Until tomorrow...
