10/1/08

Another Wednesday!

Today in Language Arts, we were very busy. We reviewed common and proper nouns. In computer lab, we typed sentences using both types of nouns. I am anxious to read their sentences to check for proper capitalization of those proper nouns. During our writing block, we discussed focusing and sticking to the topic. The students were then given 30 minutes to write a detailed paragraph that proves that they can do just that- stick to the topic!

Homework: Study for Spelling and continue working on Fluency and Flow. Fluency and Flow is due on Friday. Read 20-30 minutes each night. This is a daily requirement. Each night parents should log how many minutes their child reads. This will be counted towards their "Reads Independently" standard. Remember that reading projects are due on October 10. They are already starting to come in. Please continue to look over the rubric that was sent home on how it will be graded as you work on it.

***If you have not brought in your plastic container for Music. Please bring it in tomorrow.

In Math, we reviewed many skills on white boards and continued with area. Our test is scheduled for Monday. Many students who completed their work early, were able to get started on Math Practice Frenzy. This is an independent practice. Please ask your child if they have had a chance to work on it yet. Remember- we will not have Math on Friday due to the No Child Left Inside activities.

In Social Studies, we reviewed the introduction of Indiana and took the first quiz. Tomorrow we will actually start Chapter 1-Lesson 1.
