10/20/08

Marvelous Monday!

We had a great day today in Language Arts! We read our new story, took our Spelling Pre-test, and started our new Grammar skills. This week we have a tricky skill where the students need to know the rules on how to make certain singular nouns plural. We also met with our reading buddies and listened to our read aloud.

Homework: Fluency and Flow is due on Friday. We will also have our Spelling test. Remember to read 20-30 minutes per night and record your minutes on your calendar in your planner.

Reminder: This is Red Ribbon Week- The students are asked to wear red tomorrow.

In Math, we discussed multiplying and dividing with decimals. We will work on this more tomorrow. Wednesday will be spent working on the skills from Unit 9- Fractions, Decimals, to Percents and multiplying and dividing with decimals. Our Unit 9 test will be on Thursday. It will be very much like the review from Wednesday.

Homework: We worked on the following pages in Math while I worked with individual students. Pages 282, 283, 285-287. I checked with the class to see how their progress was. Your child should not have very much to complete for homework.

Social Studies: We reviewed lessons 1 and 2 again today as well as lesson 3. Notes were passed out for all three lessons. We had our lesson 1 quiz also. We discussed the project for this grading period. It would be a great idea if each student could make a list of 10 important events that has happened to them that they would feel comfortable sharing on a time line for this nine week project. It is always helpful if parents could jot down some dates. The students can do the rest in class. We will work on this during the first week of November.

Homework: Our Chapter 2 Test will be on Friday, Oct. 24. It will cover lessons 1-4.

Until tomorrow...
