Rain, Rain, Go Away...
Language Arts:Today in class we added 4 more word parts to our Vocabulary Vine, enjoyed a 30 minute session on bullying with Mrs. Slater, and reviewed singular and plural nouns. Please ask your child the rules for making singular nouns plural: What do I add if the noun ends in an s? an x? a sh? a ch? What happens if the noun ends in a consonant and a y? What happens if the noun ends in a vowel and a y? These questions are a great review for our end of the week test. In computer lab, we also reviewed this skill by using the Classworks program.
Homework: Fluency and Flow and Spelling test- Friday.
Cereal box projects are due Friday too!
Math: Today in Math, we worked on computation for a while with white boards. We reviewed such things as adding fractions, comparing fractions, multiplying decimals, dividing decimals, finding the Lease Common Denominator of two numbers, and ordering decimals from smallest to largest. We also started our first lesson in unit 9. This lesson deals with Fractions, Decimals and Percents. Be looking for assessment to come home tomorrow. They will need a parent signature.
Homework:Complete pages 266 and 267
Social Studies: Today we reviewed Lesson 2 and discussed lesson 3. The students were given a handout of notes for this lesson.
Homework:If it was not completed during class, practice book page 19 is homework. Get Chapter 1- Lesson 1 quiz signed to return to school tomorrow.
Our test over all of Chapter 1 will be next Monday, October 13. We will be working on an in-class project next week.The last day for this Social Studies rotation is Wednesday, October 15. (This is the last day of the grading period.)
