10/7/08

What a terrific Tuesday!

***Keep those box tops coming! It helps us buy a lot of cool things for our school.

Language Arts: We accomplished a lot today for a double special day. We finished our read aloud and will be taking the AR test tomorrow during computer lab. We also worked on singular and plural nouns and the special spelling rules that apply. Last, but not least, we added four word parts to our Vocabulary Vine.

Homework: Fluency and Flow(due Friday), Study Spelling, Read and record minutes in planners, work on cereal box project(due Friday)

Math: Today in Math some students finished up their tests while others worked with me in small groups reviewing skills. The Midyear Assessment was sent home today for a parent signature. (I will use these skills as a review during computation time over the next two weeks with a focus on measuring.)We will start Unit 9 tomorrow- Fractions-Decimals- and Percents.( We have done a lot of work on the board preparing them for this unit. I anticipate that it will be much easier than expected for them.)

Homework: Get the Midyear Assessment signed, Math Boxes 9.1 and 9.2

Social Studies: Today in Social Studies, the students were handed back their Introduction Quiz. This needs to be signed and returned tomorrow. We reviewed lessons 1 and 2 and took a short 10 question vocabulary quiz over lesson 1. The students were then given time to complete page 18 in their practice books.

Homework: Practice Book page 18- Review lesson 2 notes.

Until tomorrow...
