Terrific Tuesday!
We had a great day today in Language Arts. During Vocabulary Vine, the students played Bingo and reviewed the roots that we have learned so far. If you have not seen the word cards yet, please ask your child to bring them home to study. We add new word parts each week. We also had time throughout the morning to listen to our read aloud. Please ask your child to summarize what is happening so far in the book. The following is a list of questions that might generate a good conversation? Who are the characters in the book? What unusual thing has happened to Lucy so far? How would you describe the events that took place in the wardrobe? Describe the person that Lucy met in Narnia? Predict what the other children might say when Lucy describes to her friends where she has been? What do you think will happen next?
The last thing we worked on today was a Grammar packet .We devoted about 10 minutes of class time to get started on it. This packet replaces Fluency and Flow this week. It is due on Friday.
***Looking ahead- Our next book project for the 2nd grading period will be due on December 12. More information will follow soon. Now is a great time to start reading for the next project. Remember to log reading minutes each night on the calendar in the planner.(You child needs to be reading a minimum of 20-30 minutes each night. This is a 4th grade requirement.)
Homework: Grammar packet-due Friday.
In Math today, we completed our minute and reviewed area during computation time. The students are understanding it so much better after this constant review. They will have a quick quiz tomorrow over it. During Math, we also worked in our journal on finding the discounted price of an item. The students were shown two different ways to compute the % off an item. This is a skill that we will continue to work on...
Homework: Math boxes 9.3, 9.4, 9.5
In Social Studies, we worked on our projects again today. Tomorrow will also be spent in finishing them up. It is the last day of the rotation with Mrs. Woods' students.
Homework: Chapter 1 Test was passed back today. Please return it tomorrow with a parent signature.
