10/22/08

Wacky Wednesday!

Language Arts:Today was another busy day! We had Vocabulary Vine and a bullying session before specials and a writing lesson after specials. During our writing lesson, the students wrote 10 sentences that simply "tell" information and 10 more that "show". By practicing this activity, the students were able to add more details in their sentences that paint a much more vivid description for the reader. We will post these "show" sentences on leaves hanging from a tree in our doorway.

Homework:
*** Fluency and Flow is due on Friday. We will also have all of our assessments that day as well.
***Read and record minutes
***Wear blue tomorrow in recognition of Drug-Free Week.

***A note was sent home tonight asking for parent volunteers on Friday. We need some parents to change our two bulletin boards and work on our classroom libraries. Any help we can get will be greatly appreciated! Please let me know if you can help.

Math:In Math today, we worked on computation and completed a Unit 9 Review in preparation for the test tomorrow. We worked independently and then I went through the review answering questions. This is an excellent study guide for the test tomorrow.

Homework: Go through the review packet. This will be in the same format as the test tomorrow.

Content:We did not have Social Studies today. We have our first Art Smart of the year instead. Thank you to all the parents who helped with that today!

Homework for Content: Practice book pages 26, 27, and 28 are due tomorrow. The students also need a list of 10 dates for their timeline of important events in their life. We will start this after Fall Break.

Reminders:
***Friday is slipper day! Please bring in $1.00 or more to donate towards adopting the snow leopard.

Until tomorrow...
