Science Expo Thursday!

Today in Language Arts time flew by. We had Vocabulary Vine, discussed chapter 15 in Hatchet and read chapter 16 together. We had a nice discussion about how Brian's character has changed throughout the novel and how he has grown. The students related to his experiences and were able to support the fact that he has been transformed into an altogether different person while striving to survive alone in the Canadian wilderness. Every one is eager to see what the outcome will be... But no reading ahead!

Homework:
***Vote for our school tomorrow morning for the I Love to Read Challenge between 5-7am. We want to win!
***
Read chapter 17
***Answer the questions for chapters 16 and 17.
***Page 15 in published books is due tomorrow, edited and with a parent signature
***Your purple reading calendars are due tomorrow! Reading this entire month is an expectation and homework.

Math:
Today in math we were finally able to get back into the computer lab for Study Island. Many students were racing their way through Absolute Value while others were swimming through Negative Numbers. I am proud of all the blue ribbons that the students are achieving while working on this program.
During our problem solving portion of the class, we had more students than ever before that were able to solve the question of the day. They are getting into the routine of setting up the problem, writing the answer in a complete sentence, showing all their work, and drawing a model. We will keep practicing this throughout the year.

Homework:
***We earned our 10 chips today so the students do not have homework.

Social Studies:
***We tested today over chapter 6.

Homework:
***None

Until tomorrow...
