Language Arts:
Today was not a usual Monday around here. Right after double specials we put away our basal and started an intense novel study on the novel Maniac Magee. The kids were very excited about it. This novel study will tie in with the figurative language that we have studied, introduce new vocabulary daily, incorporate writing and reflection each day, and open up our room to a discussion on topics such as internal and external conflict and discrimination. Today we read the prologue and chapters 1 and 2. Our new friend Jeffery is quite the character so far!
Grammar- Our grammar skill of the week is plural nouns.Mr. Kistler will use this skill to incorporate Social Studies concepts as well.
Homework:
***Study 5 vocabulary words for the quiz tomorrow.
***Complete the questions and journal reflection. These should be in complete sentences with details.
***Study your spelling for the test on Friday.

Social Studies:(Doms)
Today in class we were divided up into groups and given an explorer to learn about. We investigated who sponsored their journey, their motive, the dates of their exploration, the routes they took, and the impact that it made. We will share our findings in front of the class to "teach" others about our particular explorer.
Reminders:
***We need canned food please! We our stuffing our trailer and so far there is very little to carry to the trailer. Thanks!
Until tomorrow...
