It is Round 2-ISTEP+ !
Language Arts: Today was a packed morning in Language Arts. We stayed in these groups until lunch time. We completed three ISTEP+ tests all covering math skills. The students were much more confident this time around with the test being multiple choice. Tomorrow we will have just one test covering English/Language Arts.
We did find time, however, to start our novel study as well. It is The Sign of the Beaver. The students were excited to dive into the first two chapters together. We took the time to highlight literary examples right in our books. We found such things as similes, metaphors, flashbacks, tone, suspense and examples of colloquialism. We also discussed the expectations during the novel study. (The students are expected to have their novel study packet and book with them everyday at school. Homework will be assigned each night but time will be given in class to complete it. ) It is imperative that they keep up with each nightly assignment. The Tic-Tack-Toe and other assignments will be due on May 15th with quizzes given throughout the novel.

Content: Welcome Mrs. Woods' class! We started Chapter 4 today. It is hard to believe that this is our last rotation for the year. With this rotation being a short one and starting during ISTEP week, we will not have any quizzes over the lessons to study for. Any quizzes will be open book. Be sure to study and review your notes each night to keep up. It is going to be over before you know it!
Homework:
***None- Rest up for ISTEP+ tomorrow!
Until tomorrow...
