It is hard to believe that it is October already. This first grading period is flying by!
Language Arts:
Today in Language Arts we started our second story in our basal. This week we are reading a Tall Tale and having quite a few discussions about the element of exaggeration in this type of genre! We reviewed the vocabulary and this weeks RIT words as well as worked on both simple and complete subjects and predicates in grammar.
Homework:
***Weekly Homework Packet-due Friday
(Please remember to sign the top portion of the homework packet verifying that you read the story together, practiced the RIT and story vocabulary, and practiced the spelling words for the week. Also, each night a parent should be logging reading minutes and putting initials by the day. Thank you!)
***The weekly reading assessment, spelling and selection test were passed back today. Please be looking for them in blue folders tonight.

Social Studies:(Doms)
Today we started chapter 3, discussed the new vocabulary, discussed the introduction, read and discussed sections 3.2 and 3.3. In these sections we learned that there are seven different regions that the American Indians came from. In this lesson we will focus on the regions, the tribes that came from each region and specific artifacts that may have been left behind that would help us in learning about their culture. We filled in two charts together in their Interactive Student Notebooks that dealt with the American Indians from the Northwest Coast and the California-InterMountain Indians.
Until tomorrow...
