10/4/11

Language Arts:
Today was a day filled with progress. We were able to get so much accomplished during our Language Arts block of time. During grammar, we worked on finding the compound subjects and compound predicates in sentences, completed our minute, and practiced on white boards.

In reading, we reviewed our story and RIT vocabulary and filled out a Plot/Setting chart based on our weekly story.

During our spelling time, we completed a word sort of our spelling words for the week, and worked on multiple meaning words. We ended right before Vocabulary Vine by brainstorming a web for our next writing assignment.

This week we are learning how to brainstorm for a writing prompt, balance our time requirement, create a web along with a word choice box and formulate a topic sentence. Now we are ready to begin our rough drafts during class time.

Homework:
***Writing About a Hero- due Monday
***Weekly Homework Packet- due Friday

Today we continued our discussion of four more different regions and the American Indians that lived there. Today we looked at the Southwest region, the Great Plains, the Plateau and one other region. We discussed the tribes that lived in each region, their homes, and possible artifacts that could have left behind.
