10/24/11

It is Red Ribbon Week here at Northpoint!


It was neat seeing everyone supporting Red Ribbon Week by wearing red. Don't forget that tomorrow is wear a hat to school day.

***Picture retakes are this Wednesday.

Language Arts:
This is a short week this week and next but we are still plugging along. Be sure to practice the RIT words for the week, the spelling words, and the story vocabulary every night. Our words are getting tricky.

Today we read our story for the week which is a fantasy. The comprehension skill for the week is cause and effect relationships. We will work on this tomorrow as we fill out a graphic organizer related to our story.

Our grammar skill for the week is run- on sentences. Boy can we use some work on this!

Homework:
***Safety posters are due on Wednesday
***Weekly homework packet is due on Thursday this week. We will have all of assessments on that day too.

Math:
Today was our last day to work in two separate groups. While some students retook their Unit 4 test, the rest of us worked on computation skills and mental math that dealt with algebra, math vocabulary, ratios, fractions, and order of operations. We will start working on Unit 5 tomorrow.

***Math Boxes 4.1 and 4.5

Social Studies:(Suddarth)
Today our class went diving as underwater archaeologists looking for lost artifacts that Europeans may have left in their sunken ships during their voyage to the Americas. This stirred up quite a conversation as we discussed natural objects and artifacts and their purpose.

***Northeast region test is next Tuesday-Study!
