2/26/09

What a foggy morning!

Today was a short day in Language Arts. We still found time to add new words to our Vocabulary Vine, review skills, and complete our final draft of our writing piece.
We will spend time tomorrow typing and putting our poetry together in order to get our published books ready. I have scheduled some additional computer time for this. If your child does not get their typing completed at school, it may turn into homework.(If possible)

Homework:
***Cursive packet
***Comprehension packet

Reminders:
***Next week starts the I Love to Read Challenge. Please look for the calendars to come home on Monday. All reading minutes for the month of March will need to be logged and initialed on the pink sheet. We have a lot of fun activities planned so get ready to READ!
***Reading projects are due next week. All projects are due on Friday, March 6th.
***Tomorrow is the 4/5 Growth and Development talk.

In Math we worked on a variety of skills and discussed ways to explain in writing what we need to do to solve a problem and showing all the steps on paper. We also started working on a Unit 8 Checking Progress. Some students still need extra practice in working with fractions. We will continue working on these skills in class and in small groups. Be looking for extra sheets to help them practice. These will come home the week of the 9th.(Not during ISTEP week)

Homework:
***None

In Social Studies we reviewed lesson 2, completed our study guide together, and worked on a worksheet with the help of our textbook. We will continue with this next week. Please note that the end of our grading period and this rotation is March 13th. With ISTEP being next week, we will not have any quizzes to study for, but if you would like to plan ahead you might like to know that our test will be on Friday, March 13th.

Until tomorrow....
