2/5/09

Another busy day...

We are collecting Pennies For Peace. All of the pennies we collect will go towards building schools and buying supplies for needy children in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Please start looking in couch cushions-We need all the pennies we can find!

Today in Language Arts we reviewed comprehension for ISTEP prep, reviewed subject, object, and reflexive pronouns, and devoted about 15-20 minutes to finish up our Free Verse poems. Many students finished these yesterday so they spent that time independently reading.

Homework:
***Fluency and Flow
***Spelling words 2x each in cursive
***Cursive packet
***Read 20-30 minutes each night and record it in your planners on the calendar
***Reading projects are due on March 6th

Today in Math we worked a lot with fractions. We compared fractions, found equivalents, added and subtracted, used fraction sticks, and discussed probability with fractions. This was a very easy concept for everyone, so it was more or less a great review.

Homework:
***Math Boxes 8.1 and 8.2
***Study Link 8.1 and 8.2

In Social Studies we completed some ISTEP review by discussing latitude and longitude on a United States map. We also discussed Chapter 5- Lesson 2- Roanoke and Jamestown. The students will have a short quiz over this lesson on Monday. They will be given a Study Guide that covers this material tomorrow. It will be very useful as a review for the quiz.

Homework:
***None

Until tomorrow...
