We had a great day in school today. The air conditioning is working again and the students were not complaining about being hot!
In Reading, we reviewed the Rit vocabulary that we have been working on all week. Please review the following words with your child at home: alliteration, acronym, caption, foreshadowing, conflict, onomatopoeia, and hyperbole. These are words that they should know the meaning of. These words will go our wall and new vocabulary will be added next week.
Homework: Fluency and Flow is due tomorrow. We will also have our individualized Spelling test. Your child should read 20-30 minutes each night.
***A blue sheet was sent home today discussing our first book project. Please look over it. It is never to early to start working on it. The first way to start the project is to READ!
In Writing, we worked on attacking the prompt template, and picking out sentences in our own writing that do not stick to the topic.
In Math, we continued with review of skills. Today we focused on the landmarks (minimum, maximum, range, mode, median, and mean.) This time, however, we had to set up our data by looking at a graph of information. We also started to work on simplified division problems.
Homework: The students have a sheet with 6 division problems to complete.
In Social Studies, we discussed the earth, oceans, maps, and continents. We are wrapping up our introduction and will be starting Chapter 1 next week.
Homework: The students were given 20 minutes in class to finish pages 4 and 5 in their practice/ activity book. If they did not finish it in class, it is homework.
Have a great night!
Until tomorrow...
