Wonderful Wednesday!

We had a great day today at Northpoint! The students came in all smiling and ready to start their day. (This could have something to do with picture day...:o)

Language Arts: We had a short class today due to the picture taking schedule. We did have time to do a fluency rotation where the students had a chance to read a passage from this weeks story and practice reading fluently aloud. We also listened to our read aloud and worked on this weeks Grammar skills- subjects and predicates.

Homework: Study Spelling and work on Fluency and Flow. Remember to chart your reading minutes every night in the planner. Each 4th grade student should be reading 20-30 minutes each night.

Math: We also had a shorter math class today as usual. We did a lot of computation and reviewed skills that we have been working on for the past two weeks. I am happy to say that they are getting more and more confident every day! We will continue practicing fractions of a whole set.

Homework: Math Box 7.3

Social Studies: We had an extra long homeroom block today due to pictures being taken. In our Social Studies block, we reviewed Chapter 1- Lessons 1 and 2 and lesson 3 was introduced. The students did not get their handout for this lesson due to the fact that our copier was down today. I will have them tomorrow to give out to the students... Hopefully! We finished the block with a vocabulary quiz over lesson 1. These are graded and will be returned tomorrow.

Homework:If your child did not get pages 18 and 19 in their practice book completed in class, it is homework.

During our extra time that was available, we worked on writing a book. The students actually were given only pictures to look at for a few minutes and they wrote the story. These are amazing! We are finishing them up this week and sharing them in class. When they are finished, look for them to come home. They are definately worth reading.

Until tomorrow...
