We made a difference!

This afternoon several of us had the opportunity to deliver 5 truck loads full of food to Elsie Rodgers. Teachers were waiting for us and were more than appreciative of the generosity of our Northpoint families. A big thank you goes out to everyone who donated towards such a worthy cause. Today we made a difference in our community!

Miss Nufer, our student teacher visited our classroom today. I was happy to see her and I know that the kids were too! She will be joining our class full time after winter break. We are all looking forward to that!

Language Arts: Today was a normal assessment day. We were able to get through all of them, listen to our read aloud, and we were able to go on a "comma hunt". We will continue working on using commas next week.

Hopefully your child was able to pick out an interesting book in their lexile range today during library. I encouraged everyone to pick out a book so that they have access to a book over the Thanksgiving break. With reading projects right around the corner, everyone needs to take every opportunity to read and be ready to take AR tests.

Homework:
***Read and record minutes

Math: We had a very exciting math class today! The students were excited to show Miss Nufer, our student teacher, everything that they have learned since the first week of school. We worked on fractions, integers, long division, finding the area of a room, the volume of rectangular prisms, and U.S. and Metric conversions. They were quite proud of themselves as we spent the majority of the class working on white boards and demonstrating what we've learned. We will review for our Unit 11 test on Tuesday. Using their study guide will be an excellent way to study for the test. The actual test will be on Wednesday.

Homework:
***None

In Social Studies, we started Chapter 4- Lesson 1. Even though this was a little longer of a chapter, much of the information was a review. We had a good discussion today about Christopher Columbus, the Taino, and the Columbian Exchange. I was impressed by how much they remembered from previous chapters. We will continue with this chapter next week.

Our final day of this content rotation will be the Tuesday after Thanksgiving break. We will review on Monday and test that Tuesday.

Homework:
*** Chapter 3 review(If not already turned in.)

Until tomorrow...
