I heard snow is coming!

With the forecast what it is, please make sure that your child comes to school bundled up! We could be in for a few freezing mornings at the bus stop.

Today in Language Arts, we took our Spelling pre-test, read our new story, talked about our new vocabulary words, discussed irregular verbs, listened to our read aloud, met with our reading buddies, and completed a writing prompt in preparation for our next ISTEP. What a busy morning we had!

Homework:
***Fluency and Flow is due on Friday
***Independent Spelling Test will be on Friday. Please make sure that you study a little each night
***Our next reading project is due on March 6th. Now is the time to read a book and get started on the project as soon as possible. It will be here before we know it!

In Math we completed our minute, worked on computation skills as a review on the board, and then we passed our new journals. We will be working on 5th grade journal 2. The students were very excited about getting them.

We worked through Lesson 7.1. It dealt with exponential notation. This should be a review since we worked on it a bit last week. Two new vocabulary words were introduced: exponential notation and standard notation.

Homework:
***Finish page 212 and complete pages 213 and 214

In Social Studies we reviewed Chapter 3- Lessons 1 and 2 by playing a game called "Slap It." The students did a nice job and they were preparing for the quiz tomorrow over lesson 2 while having a bit of fun. We also discussed lesson 3. This lesson talked about Indiana's part in the Revolution.

Homework:
***No written homework
***Study lesson 2 notes and study guide
***Homeroom- Science Fair is due on January 30th.
