What a fabulous Friday!

Today was a jam-packed day! We spent the entire day in our Homeroom groups and we were able to get so much accomplished even without any specials.

We started off our day with Social Studies. The students watched a short 30 minute video about the American Revolution. This kept their interest the entire time. It even generated a great conversation afterwards. We also worked on writing a newspaper article about an important person or event that we learned about in Chapter 3. We will continue to work on these on Monday in class after our review of the chapter.

Homework:
***Study for the test which will be on Tuesday, January 27th.

We also worked on an editing activity based on the writing prompt that we completed yesterday. Wow! The students were able to come up with a lot of changes that they would make if given the opportunity to write that same prompt again. I was impressed by their recommendations to improve their own writing!

We also took the time to look at writing samples from the fall ISTEP+. We discussed what made each prompt a strong piece and what changes could be made to improve a weaker example. This was great practice. We will continue this activity in my Language Arts class next week.

Science ISTEP+:
We spent some time going over example problems and practiced our test-taking strategies.

Art:
We spent time doing two projects today. We completed our Original Works of Art and a chalk pastel clown portrait that we will use to decorate our ELA.

Until Monday...
