1/20/09

After an extra long weekend, we are back into the swing of things!

Language Arts:
Today we reviewed our spelling and grammar skills from last week, took our independent spelling test and completed both our grammar and weekly assessment from last week. We also started our poetry unit. The students were very excited about this! During this unit, we will study many different kinds of poetry, review figurative language terms, and write many types of poetry on our own. Today we reviewed the following terms: alliteration, assonance, and consonance. We also wrote our own Acrostic poem.

Since we have a short week with homeroom groups all day on Thursday and Friday, we will not have Fluency and Flow this week or an independent spelling list.

Homework:
***Read and record minutes
***Reading Projects are due on March 6th

Today in math, we watched The Inauguration of President Obama. You could have heard a pin drop in our room! All the students were actively listening for the entire 45 minutes. What a great opportunity for us to be able to view such an historic event!
