9/15/10

Language Arts:
We started right after specials working on independent/dependent clauses and writing complex sentences. The students are getting much better at this with additional practice. We reviewed our RIT vocabulary today too which really got them up and moving. I was impressed with how well they are able to come up with their own examples of each figurative language term. We ended our time together by listening to a chapter in our read a loud and working on our email writing with details.

Homework:
***Weekly Homework Packet is due on Friday.
***Email writing is due tomorrow if it was not completed in class today.
***Remember- We are collecting donations for our "Here's the Scoop" basket. You may bring yours in anytime before September 24.
***Reminder- There is a Vocabulary Vine quiz on Monday.
***P.J. day is this Friday. Be sure to bring in your dollar!

Social Studies:
Social Studies was a blast today! We read together a short section that discussed different kinds of special purpose maps and then the students were off to work with their partners on Geography Challenge cards. After we were finished, we went over the answers together and played a review game on the floor. They did an excellent job reading their map and using their new vocabulary.

Homework:
***None
***It looks as though their test will be next Thursday, September 23 for my homeroom class.

Until tomorrow...
