9/11/09

A lot was happening in Room 24 today!

Language Arts: This morning we completed all of our assessments and took some time to type our rough drafts of our writing. We even squeezed in some time to read independently and free write.

Homework:
***Typed copies of our rough draft are due on Tuesday
***Parents-Please sign weekly homework packet and initial reading minutes each night.

Math: Today in math we spent time working through this unit. We worked on standard notation and working with scientific notation of large and small numbers. I was able to pull small groups and work with them individually today on things that they needed specific help with. This worked out very well. We even had time to take a RIT quiz over finding the GCF of two larger numbers. If all goes well, our Unit 2 test will be at the end of next week.

Homework:
***None
***Unit 1 tests were passed out today as well as our RIT quiz from last week. We did not have time at the end of class to go over them so I asked the students to bring them back on Monday so that we could go over the correct and expected answers in class.

Social Studies: What a messy day it was! Today we spent our class period working in groups with Mrs. Woods' class in the project activity room. We started working on our landform projects. So far they look great and the students seemed to have a great time creating them. I was happy to hear the vocabulary that they were using during the project.

Homework:
***None
***New rotations will start next Friday.
