Language Arts:
Today was a busy morning. We spent the morning discussing our new novel study. The students were all given a parent information letter, a book, and a novel study folder. All assignments and handouts will be placed in this folder during the three weeks that we are working on the novel. Please be aware that the students will have homework each day to complete. They will have some time in class to work on it, but anything not finished in class will be homework.
We also spent some time this morning with Mrs. Slater. She taught us a mini lesson on "Listening". The students were asked to role play different situations. They did a great job!
Homework:
***5 vocabulary words(in novel study folder)
***Chapter 1 comprehension questions
***Persuasive Writing-paragraph
***All assessments from last week were passed back today.

Content:
We starting class by reviewing the geographic terms by playing a quick game of Pictionary.
Next, we read the section"Reading Further" in our textbook. We discussed how one family made their way from New York to California in search of gold and all the hardships that they experienced. We started writing in our interactive workbooks a journal entry as if we were experiencing the same thing. The entry should describe in detail geographic features that they would come across during their journey.
Homework:
***Interactive workbook-Page 7
***Chapter 1 test will be on Thursday. Study guides were passed out to the students last Friday.
Until tomorrow...
