9/14/09

What a beautiful day!

Language Arts:
I love Mondays! Even though they are long mornings without any specials, we are able to get a lot of work accomplished. This morning we took our spelling pretest, completed a word sort of our new spelling words for the week, and finished a definition sheet.

In reading, we discussed our RIT vocabulary, listened to our story of the week on tape, and discussed our weekly vocabulary. This week we will focus on context clues .

Our Story Vocabulary is as follow: disasters, zone, adjusted, environment, functions, gravity mission and maze.

Our RIT Vocabulary is as follows:
imagery, cliche, adage, idiom, and personification

In grammar we discussed complex sentences and the different conjunctions that you can use to write them.

We found some time to start our new read aloud, work on final copy of our writing, and do some independent reading. We completed all of this just before Mrs. Slater talked to us about Conflict Resolution.

Homework:
***Typed copy of writing is due tomorrow
***Weekly Homework Packet/Assessments-Friday
***Please remember that our first reading project is due on Oct. 14th. Everyone should be reading and taking their AR tests.
